React

React is a JavaScript library by Meta for building user interfaces out of components. It uses a declarative model (you describe what the UI should look like for a given state) and a virtual DOM handles efficient updates.

React is the de facto frontend standard — large community, mature ecosystem, lots of libraries and jobs. It is rarely the wrong pick, though it is rarely the surprisingly simple one either.
